“Sweet n Sour Pepper Mushroom”

“Sweet n SourPepper Mushroom” is a is quick stir fry dish, prepared with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions seasoned with crushed pepper and honey. A very simple and easy dish prepared with few ingredients. This sweet and sour pepper mushroom serves as a great week night dinner option, tastes great with rice.


Mushroom, sliced  – 10 – 12 pcs
Mixed bell pepper, cubed – 1 cup (I have used red, green, orange, and yellow bell peppers, not only do they add colour to the dish but also add flavor)
Onion, sliced  – 1 medium
Garlic, sliced – 2-3 (fat ones)

Tomatoes, cubed – 1 medium
Black pepper corn, crushed – 1 teaspoon
Tomato ketchup – 1 tablespoon
Dark soy sauce – 1 teaspoon
Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
Green chilli sauce – 1 teaspoon
Honey  – 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 tablespoon


Heat oil in a kadhai or wok, add the sliced garlic and add the sliced onions, fry for 2-3 minutes and once the onions start to change colour add the sliced mushrooms fry for 2-3 minutes.

Add the chopped bell peppers and mix well and add the chopped tomatoes.Give it a good stir and add  tomato ketchup, dark soy sauce , green chilli sauce and crushed pepper corn. Check the salt and if required add accordingly.

Mix all ingredients well and cook on high flame . Add honey and vinegar, mix well and turn off the heat.

Serve hot along with steamed rice.
While cooking please keep the flame on high as this is a stir fry dish and we want to retain the crunchiness of the bell peppers, hence we don’t want to over cook.
Please be really careful while adding the salt as the chilli sauce, tomato ketchup and dark soy sauce already contain salt, so I recomend you taste and then add salt.
Its a semi dry dish but if you ant a bit of gravy then you could add around half a cup of water. 
Once you add water the sauce will becomerunny so to thicken the sauce nix 1/2 teaspoon of cornflour along with 2-3 tablespoon of water and add to
